There's no better group of people to workout with!Seth WilsonFebruary 23, 2024I joined ChangeNow Crossfit in May of ’22. I was approaching 50 years old, but I thought I was in pretty good shape. I was so very wrong. Everyone is a little stiff and sore in the morning, right? That’s normal. Knees just hurt right? That’s part of having knees. In the past I would have little stints of going to the gym, I work on the machines. I do good for about 90 days and then something would knock me off routine, or I’d fizzle out. Two years later, I’d decide to go back, and the cycle would repeat. I never got anywhere in my fitness. I would gain and loses the same 15 pounds over and over. When I decided to check out ChangeNow I didn’t want to commit too much. I didn’t understand the jargon. I didn’t know how to do the exercises. I was not sure what I was getting into. Luckily, they offered a free class, but also a short series of classes to learn the basics. That really helped me get to understand what to expect, and how these exercises worked. The coaches are excellent at understanding where you are in your journey. Better than I am for myself. They let you know if you are trying to lift too much weight, or if your form is incorrect. Little tweaks and guidance every step of the way. They understand that slow, gradual improvements is how to accomplish goals. And they don’t let you learn bad habits or get by with sloppy form. Sometimes (Okay most times) you might need to scale an exercise down to meet your ability, and that’s okay. Scaling down exercises to match one's ability is encouraged, with coaches readily offering effective alternatives. When I started here, my goal was to lose 30 pounds. I slowly came to realize I had the wrong goal. What I’m working on now is showing up consistently. Gradual progress. Little improvements. Since starting I’ve gained 30 pounds, but in the good way. I have far more endurance and strength than I’ve ever had in my adult life. I don’t hurt in the mornings anymore, and I can now enjoy fun physical activities that I thought were long beyond reach.Angie KelleyFebruary 17, 2024Great community and fun workouts. Coaches modify workouts to your fitness level. I like the different exercises mixed in the workouts, there is always a new challenge.
